VALEDICTORY.

MR G. FALLA. The congregation of Knox Church, Mo-stel-ton, assembled in large numbers in Krbox Hall last evening to bid to Mr and Mrs G. Falla, who leave on Monday for Tnvercaxgill, Mr Falla having been appointed to the charge of the Invercargill railway station. The Church was beautifully decorated by the ladies' committee, the hall being arranged in drawing-room fashion, Mr Falla has been one of the Church's most able and prominent -workers, and has'acted in many capacities, including that of preacher in the outfields fif. the Church, superintendent of the Lansdowne Sunday School, elder of the Ohurcb, representative of the congregation on the Presbytery, and a mem-' her of the Evangelical Council. During the evening an excellent musical programme was rendered, the contributors being Misses J. McGregor a."J. Millar, Messrs C. Ibbetsrm, R. Millar and J. McDonald. Mr Pur-r-ell Webb pbived the accompaniments. During a,n interval in the proceedings the Rev. A. T. Thompson presented! Mr and Mrs Falla-. on, behalf of the-congregation, with two handsome upholstered chairs. In doinc so the Rev. Thompson spoke at length,of the splendid work done for the Church by Mr Falla, who had filled so many offices that he „,\\'9uid 'be most'difficult toVfepla.ee. Nothing bad been a trouble to Mr Fallal when the interests and welfare of -the Church were concerned. He expressed the greatest regret at Mr and Mrs Fnlla's early departure, but a.ll would wish them th<* best svww in their new home. -The Rev. Grant, .repre.sentine various branches of. tlic CliiUii'dli, also paid eloquent tributes tc the work of Mr Falla, and the gen eml esteem in which he was held bi all who knew him, and expressed keei regret at his having to sever lus oon nection with Masterton. Mr Falla feelingly responded on behalf of Mir Falla and himself.

MRS EDWARDS. At the Methodist Churchy Masterton, last evening, the members of the Choir tendered « farewell social to one of the oldest members of the Choir, Mr s Edwards, who is leaving JVfasterton to take up her residence in Sydney. There -was a large attendance. At a suitable interval the Rev. Serpen presented Mrs Edwards with a lady's companion, and in doing- m, referred in eulogistic terms to tin 3 services Mrs Edwards had rendered to the Church during her 20 years' connection -with the Choir. The recipient suitably responded. Songs were rendered during the evening by Mrs Edhvaird®, Misse* V. E:hvards. Jacksou and Mr Ball, and a duet by Misses Firni.ston and Perrin ; a, pianoforte solo hv Mi.<.-s Bull, pvd recitations by Mr W. J. Morris. A very enjoyable evening was brought to a close bv the singing of "Aultl 1-.°'" Svne."
