At the Supreme Court to-day. .Michael Johnston, a half-caste native, was found guilty of an attempt at carnal knowledge of a native girl, aged 13 years, with a recommendation to mercy on account of hi.s youth and previous good character. Sentence ;was deferred. A native lad pleaded guilty to having forged a cheque for £3, and Tittered the same at Hastings. He was admitted to twelve months' probation. Mary Kathleen Dorftii was found not guilty of concealment of birth at Hastings.
