AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
EVENING MEETING. The Wairarapa Amateur Athletic Club held two evening races on the i J ark Oval last evening, over distances of 220 yards and one mile. The results were as follow: 220 Yards Handicap: R. Messenger, Byds, 1; J. .Bradbury, 18yds, 2; R. McKenzie, 11yds, 3. A very good race, won by about j two yards. Time, 23see. i One Mile Handicap.—L. Crass, 100 yds, 1; R. McKenzie,. 140 yds, 2; J. j Bradbury, scr., 3. A walk home for Crass, who assumi ed the lead after going two laps, and was ii/ Over [headed ginning, pulling up, by fifty yards., A great race for second place. Time, 4min 40 l-ssee.
