PIGEON FLYING.
A YOUNG-BIRD RACE. A young-bird pigeon race was flown from Kaitoke yesterday by the Masterton Homing Club, and proved the fastest young-bird race yet held. The distance is 39 miles to Masterton, and the following were the results: —A. Miller's Wireless, 1753 yards per miriute, 1; W. Dowling's Sailor, 1748 yds, 2; Keen and Rossou's Big Ben, 1732 yds, 3; W. Gou.rlay's Tinakori, 1724 yds, 4. Forty-two birds, representing eleven lofts, competed, and the whole of the birds were clocked in within a few minutes of each other.
