AMUSEMENTS.
BADMINTON HUNT. Last evening saw a large audience present to witness the change of programme at the T.-P. Electric Theatre. The Badminton Hunt took the iiead of the bill, and was well deserving of the place. It was indeed a fine- picture. A huge pack is seen at work, foxes appear with a frequency that suggests endless patience of the operator. Numerous exciting incidents with the hunt at full gallop, flying over stone walls, and, to snmu p, assisting in the portrayal of practically every phase of a day with the hounds. This picture is sure to be seen by every sportive person. Numerous dramas graced the programme among which The Pirate's Daughter took a prominent place. It is a Selig production of, as the name indicates, a pirate and his adventures in which a girl plays a heroic part. A Fugitive from Justice was a Western subject of an exciting nature, which was well appreciated. The favourite Lieutenant of the R.N. was once more on the bill as hero in The Ship's Mascot, The Bachelor's Bride was an excellent comedy, great merriment being caused when a dog was mistaken for a. bride. The Talker was also a fine comedy play from the Lubin .studio. Pathe Gazette supplied the latest fashions and topical events. Another fine drama was The Young Millionaire, a Kalem produe-. tion. Among several others were A Village of Ceylon (scenic), Neapolitan Sketch (sketch), and Funnicus has a Festival. There will be a special matinee on Saturday.
THE CiOUNT OF MONTE CBISTO
Monte Cristo attracted a Jmge audience to the Town Hall last evening, when the Selig -production wa-s greeted with prolonged applause. The great number who have read Dumaswork are loud in their praise of the film, and express the opinion tint the company could not in any way have- improved their work. The rugged grandeur of the Chateau D'if, great battlements, its underground prisons, immense in size and great in numbers, are only items in a picturesque and romantic story. The escape of Dantes from his watery grave oil rough the sack cbsphvvs the wildnoss of the coast on which the company dared to do their work at risk of life and limb. The Isle of Monte Cristo is also as true as mortal can make it —a barren rock rising 2000 feet out of the sea. The unflagging spirit, the endless .surprises, and the air of. reality which is cast over the most extravagant situations make the work worthy of the popularity it is enjoying. Not the least interesting scene is Dantes' visit to Napoleon, the impersonator of France's greatest general giving a faithful and impressive study. Monte I Cristo is a pictorial gem not to t)C missed hy lovers of picture or drama. The supporting programme of The Stain, the latest Luhin drama; Editor Millionaire, Hepworth drama; Outwitting Father, one of the Essanay Co.'s best comedies: Gaumont Graphic. Highways and Byways of England. The second series of these very interest films embrace StrongArmed Nellie, Caught, and many others. This programme will he shown for two more nights onlv. I
