In- respect to the petition to the M>vStei'ton Borough Council, which is to bo presented at the next meeting, asking that a poll bo taken on the haifhcliday question, it may be interesting to know that this petition' must be signed by at least temper cent, of the burgesses on the roll, in which ca.se the poll would be taken simultaneously with that of tlie municipal elections at the end of April. Everyone who is on the roll, whether ratepayers or not, is entitled to vote, and should a majority favour the change, the Act provides that it shall come into force on June 1) after the notice has appeared in tho Gazette. t
