SIEETING IN WANGANUI

The assistants, connected with shops, had a large an_ enthusiastic meeting in favour of the Saturday half-holiday for Wanganui. A representative from the Employees'-Com-mittee explained their movement, and the general desire for Saturday, and it rested witli the emnloyers to assist in tlio movement, seeing that the holiday .was- made for their benefit. Several employers spoke about the ihoiioftt<= of the Saturday half-holday, •especially in sports and military matters. A strong committee was formed to carry forward the movement; An energetic lady canvasser was secured to asisist. A petition for ri poll hn's already the required number of,,names.
