ART IN MASTERTON.
The annual report of the Managers of the Mastertoi Technical School would indicate that art in this, district is very little appreciated. The school possesses a liiglily qualified art master, an art room equipped in every detail, and all the essentials to the successful development of this important branch of edaicat-ion. And yet, the average attendance at the classes last year was not more than seven. An effort was made a year or two back, l>y tho holding of an exhibition, to quicken interest in artistic mattors; but tho response has been «o feeble as to be positively 'discosraging. The time has arrived ivhen the managers will have to seriously consider the position. If the public: shows nof greater interest in art than it, has dene in the past, tho classes will have to he abandoned. Such an eventuality would bo a matter of very deep regret. \
