(By Telegraph. — Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night.

A >poll of the ratepayers of Christchurch was taken to-day on the City Council's proposal to raise £120,000, in connection with the Lake Coleridge electric light and power scheme. Of the approximate total number on the roll, 25 per cent recorded their votes, the result of the noil being for the proposal 2874, against 492. The Mayer congratulated the ratepayers on the magnificent support given the proposal, and he and other speakers expressed the hope that the day would be an epoch marking the progress of the city.
