A Pahiat'ua telegram states that (three young men—James Farrei!l, Walter Hirst and George Gregory, farmers, of Konint—were charged on Wednesday, before Mr Poynton, S.M. with committing perjury in the local court on January 2Sth.' The charge arose out of a case in which Farrell was fined by Mr L. G. Reid, S.M., for assaultine a Chinaman named Wong Jack. Hirst and Gregory were witnesses on that occasion lor the defence. Both Farvell and Hiret swore that they wore never in the Chinaman's shop, and that Farrell never assaulted the Chinaman. The charge against Gregory was dismissed,. Farrell and Hirst pleaded hot guilty, and were committed for tiial at the M'asttorton Supremo Cow't. Bail wag
