NEW ZEALAND LOAN.

The New Zealand loan does not appear to have been favourably received iby the British, money-lender. It is true that the underwriters have taken it up, but when only twenty per cent, is subscribed by the public, there is evidence that our securities do not stand as high" as tliey fhould do. Possibly if the Dominion were to follow the example of Russia and other countries, establish trust securities hi'the Home land, it might find its credit improved. It is quite evident that, in time of stringency, the money-lenders are determined to have their last pound of flesh. Our Dreadnought gifts and our professions of loyalty to the Crown and the Empire will not avail us when it comes down to the bedrock of business. We shall require to .meet business with' business.
