.». WAS THERE FOUL PLAY? {By Telegraph—Fress Association.) GREYMOUTH, Last Night. At the inquest to-day touching the death of John McGeady, whose body was found on the North Beach, on January 17th, the evidence showed that deceased had been drinking on New Year's Day, on which day he disappeared. George Braidwood said he had been told that deceased was assaulted by another man on New Year's night. The deceased was wearing a valuable gold chain when last seen, which wa.s missing when the body was was recovered. The inquest was adjourned. During the hearing one witness was locked up for appearing in Court while intoxicated.
