SALE OF WORK AXJ) COX CERT. The members of the Knox Presbyterian 'Men's Society have every reason t-o feel grat'.iie-d at the Mileuuid success of the grand sale ol work aud variety entertainment which wa-s held yesterday, and was organised in aid of the Cadet Corps and Men's Society. The function commenced wit.!) the sale of work in the afternoon, and concluded with the variety entertainment in the evening, both functions being held in Knox Hall. The sale of work was rather novel in its v. ay. the various stalls being conducted entirely by members of the Society. ,md they worked with such zeal and enthusiasm that they succeeded in doing excellent business with the large numbers of visitors during the clr-y. The stalls were in charge of the following : Work stall. Messrs Munro, Grant and Moore, sweet stall, Rev A. T. Thompson, 11.A. 8.D.; jumble stall, Messrs Crawford and D. T. Thompson; doll and toy *tall, Mr Tregear; bran tub, Mr McLean: tea rooms, Air McHattie and staff; art gallery, Mr George Gibh; curio department, Mr H. T. Wood; nail driving, Air L. MeMa.ster; telegraph, Messrs Creelman and Gray. The attendance in the evening was very large, every available part of the hall h"ing taken up. The stall-holders did record business, and thp proceedings were interspersed with an excellent programme of musical and other items. Prior ,t° commencing the entertainment the members of the Wairarapa Caledonian Pipe Band marched from the Post Office corner to the Hall and Tendered a number of spirited selections en route. The concert programme was in the capable hands of (Messrs R. J. Young. J. (jtray and McDonald, and items were rendered by the following Piano solo, Mr Pnrcell Webb ; vocal solo, Air McDonald: quartette, Messrs Green, Young, Gray and Moore; recitation, Mr A. L. Tressider; vocal solo, Mr F. J". Hunn; recitation, Mr G. Gibb; vocal duet, Messrs Green and Young; comic character son 2, Mr W. Parker; vocal solo, Mr O. Ibbetson ; vocal solo, Mr J. Gray; vocal solo, Mr Green.
