THE WATER SUPPLY.
Masterton's water supply has been the subject of much discussion during the past week or two, and the conclusion arrived at generally is that during a dry .summer the supply is altogether inadequate. From a (ire prevention point of view, the position has been regarded as alarming, a view which has been considerably strengthened as a result of last Monday's fire. The resolution adopted, oji the motion of Councillor F.wington at Tuesday's meeting of the Borough Council, will therefore be received with satisfaction. The borough engineer has been asked to bring down a full report as to the best means of improving tho supply, and later .the ratepayers will be asked to sanction a loan for putting the recommendations of the engineer into effect. 'ltmay be some tinr- before anything definite is done, but it is satisfactory that steps have been taken, which, it is hoped, will ultimately result in the carrying out of a scheme which will adequately meet the requirement? of Masleitoirs increasing importance.
