Miss Annie O'Leary, of Masterton, has again succeeded in winning the Ladies' Swimming Championship of New Zealand, this being the second year in succession that this honour has been secured to Masterton by this young lady. Miss O'Leary hap been looked upon as one of the most promising lady swimmers in Australasia for the past season or two, and by. annexing the coveted championship twice i'i succession, she may fairly claim to be the host in the Dcminion. Tim performance is a highly meritorious one, as this year the event had heen regarded as very open, at least two of the competitors having heen looked upon as likely to wrest the championship from the holder. The result is particularly iiratifying to swimml'ig enthusiasts in Masterton. and no doubt the success of Miss O'Leary will have the effect of giving the art of swimming a further impetus in this district. The fart, that the young champion has been invited to give an exhibit ion of swimming at the Auckland Carnival, point-si to her ability heing recognised as very much above the ordinary. Masterton will offer its heartiest congratulations to Miss O'Loarv on her snlomlid performance.
