A regrettable incident occurred afc ' the Lord .Mayor's reception to the> Japanese Admiral and officers. Whiler the Japanese National Anthem \va« being played on the Town Hall organ, a chorus from the opera "The Mikado." which is most, objectionable ten Japanese, slipped in accidentally in the form, of a inarch between two o£ the anthem movements. It was evident fhat the Admiral was displeased. The Lord Mayor is writing to him expressing regret at the unintentional affront.
