A SETTLER KILLED
(Bji Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Last Night. A settler of Leigh, named tfand•!ey, was killed to-day. Deceased was driving a catamaran, and at a narrow paint of the road, with a drop of 80 feet into a creek, he met the runawaydray of another settler. Tho bolting horse dashing Into Handley's catamaran, sent him over the edge, his body crashing down the bank to tho creek below. When taken out it was seen that his case was desperate, and after lingering for about an hour and a-hal? in an unconscious «tate, the unfortunate man breathed his last. Decease ed was GO years of ago. with a grownup family, and was highly respected; in the. district.
