Richard Brown («nn of tuo late Air Charles Thrown, an early •settler in Wellington) died at 5 o'clock on Wednesday- afternoon, at the residence of his nephew (Mr Archibald Purdie)) in Tleaton Terrace, Brooklyn. The deceased was T)orn in Wellington sixty-eight years ago, and lived there all his life. ' The death occurred at Gisborne on Wednesday evening, of one of New Zealand's "foremost pioneers', in the person of Mr J. T. Evans, who has for many years been associated in business matters with many firms all over the Dominion, and whose loss will he a sad blow to a wide circle of friends and business acquaintances. Tho late. Mr Evans was born at Cheltenham. England, in September, 1841, and, received his education and business traininp at Derby. "He came to New Zealand in the ship Matoka, Inndrncr at Port Chalmers on July 4th, 1863.
