WOOL SALES
SEASON'S HIGHEST PRICES. ("Received Last Night, 11.20 o'clock.) LONDON, January 30. This week'a wool sales were marked by increased firmness, and prices were the highest of the season. Greasy lots realised up to 14£-d, and •scoured up to 23id. There, will he no sales next week. . The wool sold for tho Home trade totals 78,000 bales, for the Continent 43,000, and for the United States 9000, and 5000 bales were held over. A strong buying movement has developed during the last few days, owing to a shortage in South American and Australian supplies. Ail • merinos closed at 5 per cent above opening rates, and medium crossbreds from par to 5 per cent above tue December rates; coarse, equal to December. Lambs' wool is scarce, and showed a 7} per cent increase. America's purchases were entirely crossbreds.
