SCHOLARSHIPS.
The reply given by tlie Wellington Education Board to the request that winners of scholarships, who are Roman Catholics, should be given the option of entering St. Patrick's College, is disingenuous. The Board states that as free places find scholarships are tenable in two Wellington Colleges, a Technical School and District High Schools, it would not bo justified in allowing scholarship holders to attend private colleges.. Is it not a. fact that there is insufficient room in the Colleges of Wellington for the boys and girls who have free places and scholarships? Is it not also a fact that the instruction imparted, at St. Patrick's College is quite equal; to that given at other colleges? Has' not the Wellington Education Board already recognised and assisted Roman Catholic primary schools ? If it has, why should it not also recognise Roman Catholic Colleges ? The •Board lias notjgiven, an honest reply' to the request of tile Rector of St. PaMdc's„Cptteg;&. •
