CARGO BROACHING.
Tlit" police of Wellington have been very successful in detecting sly-grog-gers and street-bettors, vvlio are the product of a social system akin to supply i and'demand. They do not appear to be so diiigent in seeking out the thieves who purloin goods in a wholesale fashion from the ships and wharves of the city. The amount of cargobroaching that goes on at Wellington is simply appalling, and vet we seldom hear of a pillager being run to earth. Merchants and tradespeople of Mas-t-ertcn 'have suffered with those of the city, and have apparently no-redress. The Minister in Charge of the Police Department would be* doing a useful public service if he were to stir the police up a little- in this matter, and mms if a fctop could not be put to the broaching of cargo.
