SIR W.C. BUCHANAN
A COMPLIMKNTAIIY MOTION.
At a meeting of the Waimrapa'P. . and A. Society on Saturday last, the president said before the business was commenced he would like to make brief reference to Sir Walter' oarke Buchanan. Since they last met. all had received knighthoodconferred upon Mi- Buchanan. It was pleasing news indeed for them. «H to know that the "father of the Aesociation" . had received such a great honour. He moved that the Society warmly congratulates Sir Walter Buchanan, and that a copy of the resolution be forwarded to him. Mr G. W. Deller, in seconding the . motion, heartily endorsed all that had been said by the president.. . He would go: further-, and say ; that -he- .- sides being the father, of the Association, he was also the father of mm* more valuable institutions in the Wairarapa. and throughout the Dominion. He was one oilthe pioneens who V,ed -to establish the dairying. industry in New" Zealand, and along with the late Mr Brydone he was instrumental . in starting the meat freezing industry. Tin fact, there was not a Victory or any institution, sports or othenri<?" that did not have Sir Walter Buchanan's hearty support, and he was sure Ills name would he handed down to posterity as the best benefactor Wairarapa had seen. Several other members .spoke m similar strain, and the resolution carried, by acclamation.
