AMBERGRIS.

During the last few weeks it has been reported that at least two persons have accumulated wealth by securing ambergris from whales that'have Ixwn ca-st up on the foreshores of the Dominion. A question at once arises as to whether these whales and their valuable contents do not belong to the State, which owns the foreshores. If the principles of the United Labour Party be correct, no -person is entitled to anything that he does not earn—excepting, perhaps, the slaughtermen and other unionists. What did these men do to earn the wealth that came to them per medium of the whales? By whoso authority did they appropriate that which, in law, belonged to the State ? These are questions which the Red Feds., who are at present fraternising in the Empire City, would do well to discuss.
