This wa.s increased later to £IOO. he matron was jir.tifieri in putting in stitches for mifior injuries. In maternity cases the custom was followed which wa.s similar to that in the institutions in "Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin. Mrs MriKsh had died from scarlet fever and heafailure. There was no septicaemia. Everything possible was done to save her life.
