THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES.
"IN A GOLDEN CAGE."
To-night at the T.-P. Electric Theatre an entirely new scries of film* will be presented for the public's approval. The bill includes three special features of which "In a Golden Cage" is given first place. It is a long production by the Nordisk Co., and introduces for the first time to a Masterton audience the famous Saharet of Parisian and Berlin fame. This feature has the reputation of being of fine photography and possessing very fine scenic effects. The story centres around the famous dan sense, but even without this the underlying plot is extremely strong and sufficient to boa. draw to most people. A very stirring feature film by the Selig Co. will be shown in "Sergeant Bryne." I This is a story dealing with the famj ou.s Royal North-West [Mounted Police. It contains a very pathetic ioye story, which is smashed by a | failing for cards and drink. The girl | m exasperation marries another, who later degenerates into an illicit whisky J dealer. After a wasted life the "drunk" reforms, and joins tho mounted police, ft falls to his lot to arrest his usurper, and an exciting; time follows, during which duty receives first consideration. A thrilling series of incidents culminate in a. happy "Under a Flag of I ruce," Kalom's supporting feature, is a frtory of the American wars and .is an-unusual study. It contains an incident in which, under a flag Q f truce, the Confederate and Union forces combined to rid the country of a f;"! g ' mi jrauding _ bushwhackers.The Doctor's Debt," a Lubin presentation, is a very pretty story of grratrtuoe, and contains an exciting incident m which a discarded lover is forced at the pistol point to race a njotor; launch to an inland to get a umf° r S J nd ; Another good drama is The Hindu Charm." Other pictures of note are the latest "Gauraent Graphic/' "The King-fisher, * 'Ligato as Laundress," "Eiffel Tower," "Bidona's Forage Cap >» ''Salsaeh;Vale" and "Just His Luck!" There will be a matinee at 230 today.
INTERNATIONAL PICTURES.
PURIFYING FIRE
At the 'luwn Hall to-day and tonight. a conmlete change of programme will be submitted, with a special feature drama,, Purifying Fire, as a prominent attraction. Tho plot, which 'is laid in a great Continental city, deals with the unusual experiences of a pretty end. The situations are described as realistic, ant& the staging is elaborate. Another leading item is the Kalem Company's pictures of Palestine. These include the same scenes as those in the "Life of Christ" picture now showing in London. They include numbers of places "mentioned in Holy Writ, such as the residence of Joseph of Arimathea. Other pictures include an exclusive A.B. drama, entitled, The Informer, which is a fine picture, and •in A.B. comic A Real Estate Deal. Two other good comics are Just His Luck and Buster and the Gipsies, latest mews jtf theshfrdlucmfwypppp The Warwick Chronicle gives" the latest news of the day. Such a fine programme should draw a crowded house.

Mr A. Wilson, who has spent ft year in Australia and New Zealand tor the purpose of working up direct trade bet woo u the colonies and the [wirt of Hull, in the foist of England, left to-day on his return Home. Writing to tho Press Association, Mr Wilson .says: "As I am leaving New Zealand to-day, I should like, through your modi inn, to express my gratitude for the. generous hospitality which has lieeu extended to mo on all sides. 1 have had a gocd look round the Dominion, and the evidences of your progress and enterprise make me feel proud that I ami a unit of tho British Empire. I iam going Home with a broader outlook, and shall endeavour to help my friends to realise the conditions of life out here. In my travels through New Zealand, I have seen no evidences of poverty, but every indication of general prosperity, and I am satisfied you get mere out of . life than we do at Home. So far as the special object of •my visit is concerned, 1 am satisfied with the sus.suranees I have got, and feel convinced that the opening up of direct trade with Hull will .soon b.® an accomplished fact. When T have tho privilege of coming out hero again, I hope to be able to sail direct from ,Hull."
