SYDNEY. .January 16. Amalgamation appears to bo _ in the industrial air at the present time. Besides the inter-State' consolidation of bushworker 1 ' and the State unification of labourers' unions, a proposal is afoot, to form an inter-State federation of the. building trade organisations.. . The clerks 1 , shoo assistants, and storemen arc also contemplating ainalga mation. The Labour paper, Worker. announces that if the scheme is adopted bv a conference- of delegates and accepted. bv the Unions, the amalgamation will have a roll call trf 100,000. This will mark another great advance, and the ideal of one big union embracing the workers in eveTv calling, will have been ljrouerht appreciably nearer realisation.
