„UR XIELSEN RESIGNS

SYDNEY, January 16. Tlio Hon. -Mr Nielsen, Minister of Lands, in a letter tod San Francisco. December 7th to the Yass electors, announces that he lias l ceased .to represent .them. His resignation, which will take eftcct from loth, is in the hands of Mr Speaker Willis. Mr Nielsen gives as the reason for his resignation a disagreement with his' party on a. vital matter. He has decided to retire irom politics. it supposed that Mr Nielsen s letter is amongst, the Speaker's unopened correspondence in Parliament House.- The letter cannot be opened, and the seat vacated until Speaker Willis returns from Now Zealand.
Tliere has been wime comment in Liberal circles at Mr Willis depa.rtnag when he knew live resignation was in inm-sit.
