WAIPOUA STOCK SALK. I. Messrs James Macintosh and Co. 'report having held their usual weekly sale in their Waipoua yards (Alasterton) on Wednesday, loth January, when they offered a good yarding, weJl above advertised numbers, to n good, representative number of buyers. Owing to the prospective strike of butchers, bidding was rather unanimated, hut for all that we are pleased to report a fairly good sale. Prices were as follows: 2-th wethers I3s (id to 14s 7d. 2-th ewes to Ms. mixed 2-ths lis to 12s Bd, forward empty ewes to 12s lid, black face lambs 8* (id to 10s, cull lambs os to os, cows and calves £4 8s to to, 2-yr steers £4 7s (id, 2-yr heifers £l, cows in calf £4 Bs, yearling heifers £2 10s, dairy cows £5 to £8 15s, We beg to draw the attention of cur clients that the sale will be held next Tuesday, 21st January, owing to Wednesday being Anniversarv Dav. Messrs Dalgety and Co.. Ltd.. report having held their usual weekly sale at the above yards yesterday.

A large entry of sheep came forward the total offered for sale by us being 2740. We are pleased to report a most satisfactory sale, every line offered except one small pen of la.mbs, finding purchasers under the hammer —the passed in pen was also disposed of immediately after the sale. During the past few days stock business has been rather upset owing to the probability of a strike taking place among slaughtermen in this district. However, such contingency did not materially affect prices at, our' sale yesterday, and almost in every in-, stance vendors' reserves wrrv reach- I ed ; in ;i number of cases more than 1 the reserves being realised.
