A FATEFUL YEAR.
Evdivm:*- is not wanting that, the year 1913—that terrible thirteen !—is going to produce a harvest of-tragedy. Already the world has been profoundly shocked by disasters on sea and land —murders, suicides, drowning fatalities, tragedies of every description. Even we, in New- Zealand, who are not particularly superstitious, are having our t-usceptibilities impaired by the daily records of tragic events. Since the new year was ushered in, not a day has passed that has not produced a calamity in one shape or form. And vonly fifteen out of 365 days have passed. A contemplation of what the remainder of this year will being forth is enough to make the viijH-rstitiousv/shudder. ■• .
