At a meeting of the Public Service Superannuation Board leave of absence was granted! to Messrs Allport, Secretary of Marine, and 'Mr Bishop, S.M.. s An application from a. late member of the "olice force was dealt with a« to an increased retiring allowjince 011 account of injuries received while in the execution of his duties. The Board decided' that the medical evidence did not justify the request being granted. An opinion of the Solicitor-General was received', relative to the claims of widows to the balance of compensation due to their late husbands, and which decided that their claims to such compensation were legal. The report of the Public Trustee on the state of the Fund on December 31st. 1912, was read; to the Board. The report stated that on that da to the amount to credit was £410,918 18s, being an increase on the same date last year of £84,138 os lid. The totals of retiring allowances and anmities to widoAvs and children, passed, by the Board, were as .follow :—Ordinary, £2257 9s; medjcallv unfit £362 14s; eight widows and seven children. £235; total £2855 3s.
