COLLISION AT A CROSSING

INVERCARGILL; Last Night/ A motor car collision with a railway train "occurred this evening at Grassmere, resulting m three young men, Eric. Russell, Eddie Broad and George Broad, being admitted to the hospital, suffering from cuts and bruises. There were five occupants in the ear. When the car neared the., line it \va.s seen that the incoming train from Kingston ~,had passed Grassmere station and would probably cross tlie rrtnd. "Russell, who was driving, applied the breaks and turned the ear towards the cattlesio ). but a collision took place. The impact hurled Rnssel over tlie" wind screen oh to the cattlestop. Eddie Broad had some ribs broken, and George Broad sustained cuts _ and bruises. Walter Broad was'tlirown violently against the "Stop, look out for the engine" sign-post, which he clasped, and ."-lid to the ground, uninjured. Afred Broad was also thrown out. but escaped with a -shaking. Both car f"d train were travelling slowly 'at the moment, of collision, and to this fact is >irol>ably due the slight nature of the injuries sustained.
