MASTERTON RACING CLUB

MEETING OF STEWARDS. A meeting of Stewards of the Masterton Racing Club was held on Saturday laist, there being present. — Messrs D. McLachlan (in the chair). J.M: aoara, G. H. Yates. A. G. Pilmer, F. Dorset, J. B. Moodie, Douglas, 0. C. Cooper, 1 A. J. Welch and J. Torns. A communication was received from the Wellington Racing Club, enclosing a. gentleman rider's certificate, for Mr 11. E. Russell. Messrs Levin and Co.. Ltd., acknowledged receipt of policiOnS in the name of W. A. Liverton.

Mr H. G. Bagnall a«ked for a sample of totalisator tickets, and a list of the totalisator staff of the Club. — Information suoplied.

The Secretary of the N.Z. Sport?. Protection League wrote, asking that a meeting be called for January 31st, to.form a branch of tbo League in Masterton.—Tt was decided that the Club give every- assistance in the formation of a branch. an<] that His Worship the Major bo a-sked to convene a public meeting. Mews Abraham and Williams .forwarded a list of weights of wool consigned to them.

. The Treasurer reported a debit balance in the bank of £7OO 1R« 6d. Aco.ou.nts amounting to £lO3 &s Id were passed for payment. It wa-s decided that it be a direction to the Programme Committee that the stakes for the next meeting do not exceed £I4OO. Tt was pointed out that the stakes given at the same meeting last year amounted to £l2-10.
