A PROFESSOR CONGRATULATED. CHEMISTRY A SCIENCE. (Received Last Night, 11.40. o'clock ) MELBOURNE, January 9. The Council of the Science Congress now sitting in "Melbourne, cabled appreciation of the illustrious life and work of Professor Russell Wallace, on the occasion of his ninetieth birthday. Professor Favsilh. of Sydney, in a presidenial address before the Chemistry section, said the greatest development of this generation was the gradual but sure reduction of chemistry to an exact science. Mr F. Schiinn. dealing with military science, said the defence scheme for the better observance of law ,and had already created a marker] effect order amongst young Australians.
