(Our Own Correspondent.) KAIPAHORO. Tlio weather during the past week has been close and sultry, and heavy thunder showers havo been experienced. Smoke from bush fires added to the discomfort of the heat, but the rain has now effectually cleared the atmosphere. The weather,ls still unsettled and farmers are Having considerable difficulty with their hay crops, only a few 'having; completed [harvesting before the rain set in. i The holidays passed very quietly iheTe. On Boxing Day a picnic was held in Mr Miller's reserve. A little mild excitement was caused when darkness set in by two of the picnickers failing: to put in an appearance. JAs they did not respond to repeated cooees, a search party was organised, and at 10 o'clock the missing ones were ""discovered;" apparently quite happy,: though.they had missed the track. A moonlight picnic was held on the following Saturdav evening. The moon did not rise until 9.30 p.m. Muit the hour or so of darkness in noI wise marred the pleasure of the outing.

Next Saturday evening, a progressive euchre tournament is to be held in the ball. Mr and■ M,rs K. MoKenzie, of Wairea, are spending their vacation wtih Mr and Mrs Falkner. senr. Mrs McCann and Mrs Adams have just'returned from a, -visit to Palmerston North, where they went to atten the woddimr of Nurse Ruff, formerly of Ekeiahumi.

Mr and Mrs Sunnox and family have, returned from a visit to Masterton and Wellington. Mr Tilson, a oopnlar emplove.r at tlio local sawmill, wa<* married during the holidays, and lifts returned home with his bride. Tt is 'reported that 'Messrs-Harold and Herbert Renall have .sold their nroperty on the Mt Bruce road to Mr Olsen, of Eketahuna.
