RELIEF EXPEDITION SENT OUT
(Received Last Night, 10.15 o'clock.) CHRISTIANIA, January 8. Captain Riticher, belonging to the advance party of the Stroheder.Stranta German expedition, which starts next June to endeavour to make the North-East Passage, has arrived at Advent Bay, Spitsbergen. He reports that his companions aro starving on the northern -coast of the island. They are in the last stages of scurvv, and 1 sent him and two others for help. He left his two comrades exhausted with cold and hunger at Hyde Bay. He twice escaped death, through the ice yielding, and was saved bv the help of the dogs. He ate the last tallow candle on Christmas Day.
When he arrived the clothes were off and: his feet frozen. A relief expedition has been despatched.
