"A ROGUE OF THE TURF."
To-night. at the Town Hall rhe usual change takes place, when the feature of the new series will, be "A Rogue of the Turf," a story of the, career of a clever and da'riig adven-. turer. The story opens in a smail mining town in the Wild West, in which Jack Brown, a noted gambler, is caught cheating at cards by Richard-. Stanford, a young Englishman. After' being dogged by hungry wolves, and undergoing other adventures, Brown crosses to England, where lie leads a mysterious double life. At Newmarket trials he stops Lady Molly's runaway horse, and introduces himself as the Count of Merville. He avails himself of his hew friendship to rob Lady Molly's father at cards and horse racing, and also schemes to marry Lady Molly. 'Hie gambler wins-a large amount of money fro.nif-. the Duke of Barley, owner of the horse. The nobleman finds difficulty in meeting his liability, having plunged deeper than Ire had intended, and the gambler attempts, to make this a lever towards securing the hand in marriage of the Duke's daughter. lover coming on the scene and denouncing *the adventurer, and. i-he story ends happily. ' A very tine story, is told in the Cines d< m. "Beck's Return." "The Squaw Man," r lOflOft drama, is a pictorial roifaisentation of ' the play of that, title. The comics arc a very fine selection and number some genuine laughterraisers. -Hop It" is one of the funniest' films yet shown, and the, same may he <«iid of "Jenkins Invulnerable." "The Warwick Chronicle" m ■a great collection of topical subjects. "Tho Little Orphan" is an drama of the permanent way. Other pictures included j" the programme are "■Sammy Practises. "A WOMAN SCORNED."
To-night the mid-weekly change at the T.-P. Electric Theatre will contain a magnificent selection of all types of pictures. T,he feature of the programme will be "A Woman Scorned," a 3000 ft drama of a pathetic nature, being the true story of a woman's downfall and redemption, the moral being shown in "Let him that is without sin cast the first stone." An exceptional lot of films will be shown in support of this star, and include some splendid feature dramas. "The Loneliness of the Hills" is a story of a trapper's infatuation for an Indian maid nnd his trials in winning her. This irt by the Kalem Co., It contains a very exciting scene in a conflict between two rival Indian tribes. "A Trustee, of the Law," by the Lubin, Co.. shows a sheriff's bravery' in preventing a prisoner from beim' lynched, nnd contains the theme of a. quaint Western love, story. "Holding the Fort," written by Bannister Merwin. is produced by the popula" Edison Co-., and is a comedy-drama of more than usual interest.
