BANKRUPTCIES.
If the Bankruptcy Court may bo regarded as an index of nhe prosperity of a district, then the Wairarapa hnJ? reason to feel more than -satisfied with its position to-day. A return published in our new« columns showsthat there has been a steady decline in the number of bankruptcies during the last three years. Indeed, the number and amount involved last year was less than half what it was in 1910. t The No-License Party will, no doubt, moke capital out of tli* fi.'iures given. They' are, of course, entitled t-tf 'do m.' For ourselves, we give no-license no more credit for Hie apparent prosperity of to-day than we did for the obvious, slump in 1910. We are satisfied that the district is too resourceful to be influenced by social environment, and that its people are too virile to be affected, by temporary reverses.
