WAVES EIGHTY FEET HIGH. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCES OF CREW. (Received Last Night 11.15 o'clock. LONDON, December 3Q. A wave eight feet high, damage' the whole upper structure of th Beacon .Grange. The engineers and firemen worker waist deep in water. DANISH STEAMER FOUNDERS. THIRTEEN OF CREW DROWNED (Received December 30, 8 a.m.) LONDON, December 29. Hie l Danish steamer Volmer,, 131? tons, has foundered. The captain and a sailor were pickec up' off the Lizard after two days : suffering in an open boat. Thirteen of the crew were drowned, SHOCKING OCCURRENCES. MEMBERS OF THE GREW GO MAD. (Received December 30,1.30 a.m.) LONDON, December 29. The Volmer's hatches were stove in. She foundered on Christmas Day A sailor went mad a.nd jumped into the sea. The first boat was smashed alongside the steamer, and all its occupants were drowned. The second capsized, but -the survivors .righted: her. The engineer died, and the chief officei- went mad, and attempted to throttle the captain. He then died. Fifteen of the crew perished, A trawler bravely rescued the captain and the sailor from the swamped boat. OTHER VESSELS CRIPPLED. RETURNING TO PORT. (Received December 30, 10.5 a-m.) LONDON, December 29. Many vessels are returning to port crippled, with sailors injured. The Beacon; Grange had; reached the Solent, when a sea swept over her near the Caskets. All the starboard lifeboats were smashed and the davits snapped like carrots. The cabins were wrecked.
