HERTZOG AND DE WET. (Received December 30, 8.50 a.m.) CAPETOWN, December 29. A demonstration was held in Pre--baria in support of Geneoral Hertzog (who recently resigned firom the South African Cabinet) and General De Wet. Speakers declared that General Hertzog had been the only representative of the people in the Cabinet, General De Wet spoke from a ma<n>ure heap. He said he preferred to be there with the people than on the most brilliant platform with foreigners. Those taking part in the demonstration then, proceeded to General Hertzog's liouse. General Hertzog, in a speech, apologised for his thoughtless References to the Imperialism of Sir Thomas Smartt, Leader of the Opposition.
