PROGRESS IN THE WAIRARAPA. • The organising secretary, Mr D. ■Hebenton, interviewed by" an, Age ■representative, stated that local committees have been formed at Martinborowh, Featherston, Greytown, Carterton. M'asterton, and Tinui. From each local committee two members have been elected to a central executive. _ The executive will be J the governing body of all Union; matr tens in the Wainirapa, the first meeting of which Avas held in Carterton this month. The members of the executive arc as follows:—Messrs H. Morrison (chairman) and J. O. Cooper I'Mastertcn), A. Groves and A. .Speedy (Tinui), H. R. Bunuv and E. Eagle, jun, (Carterton), D. Buick and W. Orr fGreytown), Q. Donald and G. Yule (Featherston), A. D. McLeod and H. Daysh (Martinborough.) ! ' The membership is increasing daily, and Mr Hebenton is confident that the Wairarapa will have a bigger roll of members by the time of the annual conference next year, than any other district of a similar size in New; Zealand. ' ? Duri"<r the last few months ' lectures have given by Captain Youncr, the veterinary .supervisor, i and Mr F. Brown, the poultry expert, at the various centres. Arrangements are now being made for a ■series of lectures on grass erul; and other pests, by Mr H. Hi. Cockayne, the Government Biologist.
