The'weather was good. The Englishmen won all the matches, the best game being playedi between 0. P. Dixon, the English captain, .and J.'C. Olliver. The latter played well i;p to.form, his serving being boanlifui. Dixon was more consistent, and wen. bv 7—5, 6—3. F. G. Lowe bent J. C. Peacock 6—!, (i—2. J. C. Parke beat R. N. K. Swanstou o—o,0 —0, 6—3 A. E. Beamish beat F. M. B. Fisher 6—4, 6—3. In the doubles Dixon and Parke beat Fisher and Olliver, 6—l, 6—o. Parke audi Beamish beat Peacockc. and Sw;v;-xten 7—5, 10—8. The visitors were too storng for the New Zoabrulevs who. with the exception of Olliver. never seemed to trouble thern seriously. The New Zealand champion's service puzzled his opponents often. Swanstou and Peacockc rr.it up a dogged fisht against Parke and Beamish, but the score makes the game.appear'closer than it really wa«. Parke's play was the feature of the day. Beamish at times was brilliant, particularly in back hand, cross court shots. Fisher, +ho New Zealand can tain was. very disapoointi'itf. lack <">f practice being nlninlv evident.
