Mr Orton Stevens, manager of the National Mutual Life Assurance Company, lias received the following cable from Melbourne: The forty-third annual meeting was held to-day, and the members arc- to be congratulated upon the splendid results for the year, which ia a record cue. for the association. New business amounts to £3,593,000 being an increase of £150,000 over last .year". The total premiums amounted to £954,000, showing an increase of £58,000. The. interest received amounted to £329,000, the rate of interest earned being higher tha.n hist year. Notwithstanding the large amount of new business, the ex- ! penses of management are lower than anv previous year. The total funds now stand at £7,291,000.
