AMUSEMENTS
CARRIE MOORE. TOWN" HALL TO-NIGHT. "Chips" or ,; A Visit to tlio Studio" belongs to the most delightful department of Musical Comedietta. It seems to have been "thrown" off, and it is this very spontaneousness, this .absence of strain, which win for if unstinted praise. It lilts, it enlivens it amuses all in the same ©Tenant, irresponsible way. It is exactly the piece to "go". Miss Carrio Moore, who will be seen in the title role, is acknowledged to be one of 1 the most versatile actresses on the stage, who i :ings and acts with abundant nerve and dash whilst her vocalisation is always effective. She i* now undoubtedly at the top of th«i profession, for her triumphs in Musical Comedy and Vaudeville hear tho London Hall rear 1 , as woii Australian. Possessed of a >} arming Iguro that rare gift, distinct enunciation and a. personal magnetism, which attracts 'her audience instantly she "gets there" so to speak, from the moment of her first entrance and "stays there" tilt the final fall of the curtain. The Company organised to support MissMoore will be of the highest .standard of excellence, chief amongst which may he mentioned that incomparable comedian, Mr Percy Clifton, (late of the "Arcadians" Company). The first of the new regular Wednesdays' change?! will be onened with the new star drama., '"Sealed Lins." This drama has the- very great charm of being a storv founded upon an occurrence in actual life, and isabounding in .intor«sting and charming human incidents It 's essentially a lady's -ptory. and it will find prreat favour with the gentler sex. This great drama will he- shown for three nights viz., to-night, Thursday and Friday. "Tested by Wireless" is an exciting story, teeming with the adventures of a female thief and a case of mistaken identity with a particularly happy ending. "The Little Keeper of the Light" is a drama in which a very clever little girl figures as the heroine, and includes some veryinteresting natural scenery. Of quite another type is the.naval drama, entitled "Lieut. Daring Quells a Rebellion." In this picture President Garcia, of a South American .Republic, seeks the aid of Commander Ridout, of H.M.S. Thunderer, -to quell a native rising. The story hag been written around the beautiful South. American scenery. "The Stubbornness of Youth" is a very hilarious comedy, in which two old people ax© anujyeel because the ykra'ng peopleconcerned will not consent to marry according to the arrangements made, by their elders. "An Interrupted Elopement" is another picture showing most unmistakably that the old adage "the course of true love never runs smooth" is very correct. "Cascades in Devon" k an exceedingly pretty scenic of water studies. A picture "which will appeal to the men folk is "Making Briar Pipes." The Gaumont Graphic is one of those eyerwelcome news purveyors, and enjoyed by the ladies because of the bit-, est fashions being shown. "The Life of a Racing Pigeon" gives one a, splendid idea of what a big business the breeding, training, transport .and racing of the homing pigeon is. Hundreds of birds are liberated all at once, and special trains convey them to the starting point, whilst an army of attendants see to their bodily comfort, en route. "The Oat's Cup Final" is another "sporty" of a humorous nature, in which some great rae- ! ing ifi shown. We are assured that Foresters' Hall patrons have a treat in .store in to-night's list of good things, and we would emphasise that the proirramme is completely changed for to-night, and on all Wednesdays and Saturdays in the future.
