A sensation has been created by the swindles of .Idman, the manager of tho most important hank in Helsingfors, who a short lime ago was arrested for forging and embezzling large sums nf money. Idman v,-n<j connected with the bank for thirty years, and was implicitly trusted. ' After advancing money on securities he abstracted tho latter, and obtained personal loans on thorn from other banks. Over two hundred firms and wealthy persons have been partially or Avholly ruined. Two female cashiers l , who have been arrested, confessed that, they wore aware of Idman'.s irregularities.
