I A corresponden tin this issue makes [pointed reference to properties that are being placed under offer to the Government in thig district for closer settlement. We have made inquiries. and are inclined to think that a. good deal of the property under offer may [not prove- >n- profitable investment for either the Government or the individual. This, however, is a question for the Land Purchase Board. The Board can be trusted to sec that nothing in the nature of a "job" i s perpetrated. Alt'honigN the'earth-hun-ger is very pronounced in all parts of the Dominical, the State h.p, s already a sufficient quantity of third-class unoccupied land, without having further areas foisted upon it.
