TOE PUBLIC BATHS.
Laud and persistenf r.*^ plaints have been made of late by the patrons of the Dixon street baths in Masterton, concerning the condition of the water at the week-ends. A representative of the Age visited the baths yesterday morning, and satisfied himself that there was genuine ground for complaint. The water was of sucli a consistency that it resembled soup, and a significant scum cotild be seen floating on the surface. The cause for the unsatisfactory state of affairs is not hard to discover. The baths aare patronised by hundreds of neople. and the wafer is not allowed to get away. The remedy is very simple, and should be inexpensive. Jf the baths were cleared out twice instead of once a week the water would be fairly clean and wholesome. We feel sure that the attention of the Borough Council h,p.<i only to be drawn to this matter to ensure the remedy, being applied,
