CIVIL COURT CASES. The monthly sitting of tho Magistrate's Court was hold at Carterton on Thursday, Mr L. G. lie-id, S.M., adjudicating on the following cases: L. Alpin (Ma mi sell and Hart) v. T. G. Lennox, claim £4 16s 3d, costs ss, J solicitor's fee /is; G. Davie's (Mannsell and Hart) v. T. G. Lennox, cahn £5 15s 3d, costs Ss, solicitor's fee 15s 6d ; H. H. Wolters v. E. Smith claim £3l 7s Bd, oosfts ,£1 3s. In the judgment-summons case Br Gunn v. G. Saunders, judgment was entered for £3 3s and costs, and an order made for payment of £1 per mouth first instalment to bo paid on; January 2nd, 1913. "MICKY" CONVICTED. Michael James Dal ton was charged with drunkenness some days ago. and remanded in order to give tho Court time to oscertain if accused's statement that he had been discharged from Roto-roa on account of his suffering from varicose veins was correct or otherwise. The authorities reported that Michael had truthfully represented his case. In view of the fact that he had spent a. week in gaol, His Worship recorded a conviction and imposed the light penalty of seven days' imprisonment! FINED AND PROHIBITED. A local resident started on a thirstquenching expedition on Wednesday, and although successful, ho developed a decided impediment in both his speech and walk, which explained his name being called yesterday morning to contradict an accusation of insobrioty and tho causing of a nuisance f-.fc homo. t In his absence, lie was fined 5s ami costs for drunkenness and lug name was enrolled on the "forfeit list" for twelve months. EXCESSIVE MOTOR SPEED.

James Holland forwarded a letter pleading .guilty to a charge of driving a motor car at an excessive rate of speed through High street, Carterton, on a recent date. Reid, S.M.. at Carterton, yesterday, granted six applications for renewal of old age pensions—one for £l9 and five for the full nimount. viz., £2f)—and cancelled two instalments of one pen*sion on account of the pensioner's misconduct. Two new applications for pensions were also granted—one for £5 and the other for £26. LODGE MEETING. The usual fortnightly meeting of Court Marquis of Normanbv was hold on Wednesday evening. C.R. Bro J. G. Moore presiding. 'Five brethren were reported on sick fund 1 and one member was transferred to tho Martinborough surgeon's list. It was decided to extend the nomination of officers till next- lodge night (which will be held on Friday. December 20th on account of the Christmas holidays). Bro J. 31. Nicholls renorted on the business transacted at the recent «rie»nial meeting hold, in Mastertori, an<3 received a hearty vote of thanks for his able representation. Receipts for the evening totalled £3O 0s Bd. and disbursements £8 7,s IQd.
