THE NAVY.
Immense interest is being taken in every part of the British Empire.' in t-ho strengthening of the JLmp'erial Navy. The offer that came from the Indian Princes, followed by the magnificent contribution of Canada, lias stirred the heart of the Empire into profound enthusiasm and exultation. Australia, Africa and New Zealand have not yefc spoken their last word; but if it be necessary that thoae engaged in tho naval protagonism shall bo fully acquainted with the solidarity and determination of the Empire to maintain the supremacy of the sea, then the utmost sacrifice will be made by these Dominions. Even now the question of concerted action in tho Pacific is under serious consideration, and a conference between the Ministers of Defence of New Zealand and the Commonwealth may produce an impressive scheme for rendering sustained assistance to the Motherland. Tho bonds of Empire are being drawn so closely together, and the interests of the Overseas Dominions are assuming such stupendous proportions, that only an Imperial Council of Defence will 1)0 able to .successfully control the foreign policy of the Empire, and render the Nation invulnerable, indissoluble, indomitable.
