NEW PLYMOUTH, Last Night. Just before midnight on Saturday a fire broke out in Archibald Clark and Sons' warehouse. It had a good holdr when it was discovered, and the upper story was-gutted before the names were suppressed. J. H. Cock and Company's premises in the 'same building were saved with difficulty, but the stock v was much damaged. The building, which is the jfrbporty of Cock and Company, was insured ior £I7OO in the London,. Liverpool, and \- Globe, and the Cocks' stock for £3400 in the same office. The loss is about covered by insurance. Clark's stock was insured for about £6OOO in the New ealnnd and South British, and the loss is about £2OOO in excess. The fire started iu a lean-to over a loading platform, and passed up the lift well,into the upper story. The circumstances-are suspicious. Two firemen were injured while fighting the flames.
