TIMAEU. Last Night. The wharf strike was declared off to-day. Mr Well, President of the Federation of Labour, met the men and pointed out that the strike had not been authorised by the Federation!, and in the interests of discipline, the men should resume work. Recognising the force of Mr Webb's argument, the men agreed to resume. No steamer was in the port till the Karamca came in tins .even*ing.
, MEETING OF FARMERS.
STRIKE SOUNDLY CONDEMNED
JTMA.RU, Last Night. After the stock sales, at Pleasant Point to-day, the fanners present held a meeting, and roundly condemned the strike, and decided that arrangements ought to be made to get men in from the country at once, in case there should be anv further strike on the wharves, as such stoppages of the port business affected farmers materially. At a meeting of farmers on Saturday, it was said that from 400 to 500 men could be "ot in a couple of hours if necessary.
